Micah Parsons defended Mike Zimmer in Week 2 & blamed effort from teammates. Here’s what Parsons said: "I think it was effort and technique. .... At some point, all 11 [on the field] got to have the same mindset, and that's just toughness. You talk about who you want to be and all this other stuff. but you've got go out there and be it. It can't just be one guy. It can't be two guys. It's all 11 guys. It takes everyone. I affect the linebackers, the linebackers affect the DBs. We aren't all synchronized. One group's getting F'd up, then another group's going to get F'd up. It's a synchronized chain. So at the end of the day, it's all about toughness and having the mentality like I'm going to dominate the man in front of me. Not all 11 had that last week."
“To have back to back embarrassing losses at home, I get the fan frustration but I don’t think there’s anyone more frustrated than me. I’m a competitor. I feel like I’m a warrior. I battle like everyone else battles, but at the end of the day, it’s all about wanting it more. To me, not having everyone wanting it as bad as you do, that kinda hurts the most. If you’re willing to take a beating like that, that says a lot.”
“I think I’ll find it tougher if people don’t step up. … To me, it’s like a prove it weekend. I’m not putting anything on any of my teammates. I’m saying myself included. I need to step up. We all need to step up. It would hurt me more if we all didn’t step up and we all played down to that standard again. Because that just tells me we’re not moving in the direction we should be moving.”
Tom Downey’s Take: I don’t disagree with what Micah Parsons said … but it does raise concerns for this Cowboys team.
