💸ko-fi.com/activistwitch 💸 Second video in the Problematic Witchcraft series where we consider witchcraft practices from a feminist and Gender studies point of view. The Feminist literature mentioned includes Silvia Federici Wages Against Housework featured in her book Revolution at Point Zero and Laurie Penny Meat Market. I discuss the marginalisation of women in a patriarchal capitalistic society and the reasons why even being 51% of the world population they are still a marginalised group, the issues that White Feminism brings by simply trying to elevate cishet able white women to the same power of cishet able white man without considering and allying themselves with other marginalised groups. We will touch about the Mother superiority complex and analyse the reasons for that to happen and why most cis-het women consider Motherhood an achievement or prize at times. We go into the history of triple goddesses such as Hecate / Hekate and will mention a talk by Sorita D'este during the goddess conference 2023 where she explains about the three aspects being unrelated to age or stages of life and how she likely came to be defined as a Crone due to Aleister Crowley bad personal experience with Her. We will go into Robert Graves "The White Goddess" as the original of the Maiden Mother Crone Archetype and the reclamation of second wave feminism through the work of Dion Fortune and Starhawk in "the spiral dance" to reclaim the archetype. I will then mention the issues with bio essentialism connection to the women's stages of life being only related to womb / uterus function as often in radical feminism contexts the Maiden is considered as such just after the menarche (first period), the Mother just when a woman has children, and the crone just after menopause when her reproductive years are over. We discuss the difference between misogyny and sexism including the benevolent sexism of Robert Graves in creating the Maiden Mother Crone with benevolent sexism in mind which still limits women and womanhood to their function in society, sexual availability to men and reproductive capability. I will then try to Breaking Down the Problematic Goddess Archetype by proposing a split into characteristic representative of Maiden Mother and Crone rather than a split in ages, and going beyond the gender definition of the archetype.
