Toy Story 1, the one film that pretty much kick-started 3D animation and Pixar into the mainstream. As a kid, I wasn't really a fan of it because it is so overplayed on TV, and every single time it came out on TV, I only get to watch the middle parts of it. While I enjoyed it, I don't think it's amazing or anything. I think it's good enough.
As an adult? Pixar. How the hell could you cook a film this amazing on your first time? This film is freaking fantastic. I was only lukewarm to it at first, but this film really nails the landing on the amazing third-act. The universe is brilliant. The characters are brilliant. The relationships and the arcs between the two main lead are fantastic.
I didn't really notice it that much when I was a kid, but there's one scene that stuck out to me rewatching it as an adult, and that was the scene where the toys absolutely traumatize Sid. Sid is such an amazing villain that was unfortunately way too common back in the day when kids are still playing with physical toys, but that scene where the toys get their revenge on him is absolutely brilliant in every aspect.
Toy Story 1 is a brilliant film, and what an amazing banger of a start of not just the Toy Story series, but also Pixar as a company. I thought I'm going to put this film as just good and loving the second one more, but the first one is still magnificent to watch to this day. I do a review of this one because I want to marathon all of the series through my fresh adult perspective, especially 3 because I've grown up past toys on 3, and I do want to see how that goes.
