DIY Magnets
So today's video is about magnets. I am making them for an upcoming craft show (along with my paintings and jewelry) and I wanted to share with you the process. I think they turned out gorgeous and at the end I will show you some of the finished ones.
I like to make my magnets with cabachons and not vase fillers, I feel that you get a much better looking product. The vase fillers have ridges on the bottom and have a cloudy look, and are not uniform in size. I have used them in the past and for certain projects & they look great, but it wasn't the look I was going for here :)
The sizes of the cabachons in the video are: Large Round - 1.5 inch / Small round - 1 inch / Large square - 35 mm / I purchased these cabachons from lilly d's. She has great quality items and they are shipped out to you fast :)
I use a heavier magnet. I get mine from X-bet Magnets, they are heavier.
There is nothing worse than when you want to put something on your fridge and lets say your kid got an "A" on their spelling test and you want to display it on your fridge :) You put it on there and it slides right on down because it isn't strong enough. I didn't want that, so I used a higher quality magnet & I think that it speaks for itself when you pick it up, there is girth to it :)
I like to either use decorative paper or paint skins
You can dress up the decorative paper with little sayings and symbols,.
The paint skins are my favorites! They are mini paintings :) So bright and colorful

My pouring mixture is 1 part paint/ 1 part PVA/ 1 part liquitex pouring medium/ & 2-3 parts floetrol to obtain consistency.
