Norikura is undoubtedly the BEST way to surpass the clouds, and hike up into the 3000m altitude threshold within Japan. The reason for it's popularity is because of the bus system that takes you straight to the top of the mountain range, costing 4000yen per person for a round trip. Once at the top, you can do a beginner-friendly 3hr return hike to the peak, and take in some incredible views spanning far across the country - if it's not cloudy, of course!
