I bet you that this song has something you've never heard before. Pine cones. One of the most freeing things about making music is that you can use absolutely anything. Normally the small percussion is what you'd expect, shakers and things of that sort. One thing you might not know about me is that I keep lots of seemingly useless things around. I have a shelf with sticks, a large branch and pine cones all of which feature pretty heavily in the tune. You might be able to pick them out in the calmer sections like at 02:25, the swoosh of the branch and the tippy-taps of the sticks and the guiro-like pine cones. If you're going to write something about nature, why not feature it!
I have to say that one of the greatest perks of being a somewhat established musician is that I get the opportunity to work with great people. It's been a while since I did a collaborative tune, and now I have two lined up, of which this is the first. I hope to do even more soon, it's so much fun!
This time I got to meet the fantastic Elvya and borrow her ethereal voice talents for this song.
