I made this video collage of favorite magazine illustrators in 2009. This includes a rare glimpse of prominent illustrators in a motion picture: John La Gatta (1894-1997), Arthur William Brown (1881-1966), Russell Patterson (1893-1977), McClelland Barclay (1891-1943), Peter Arno (1904-1968), and Rube Goldberg (1883-1970) in “Artists and Models” (1937). Music includes “The Girl on the Magazine” (Irving Berlin) from “Stop, Look and Listen” (1915), “I’m Getting Myself Ready for You” (Cole Porter) from the Broadway show “The New Yorkers” (based on a story by Peter Arno; with sets & costumes by Peter Arno), “How Do You Do It?” (Harburg-Gensler) from “Hold Your Horses” (Scenic and costume design by Russell Patterson).
