Madison Beer was recently on an episode of Jake Shane’s podcast, Therapuss, where the two connected over having OCD and talked about two themes that a lot of people deal with: magical thinking and confessional OCD.
During the conversation, Madison shared that she didn’t realize magical thinking was actually a subtype of OCD, despite experiencing it for much of her life. As someone with a newer diagnosis, she was able to learn more about both magical thinking and confessional OCD through her discussion with Jake.
We’re grateful to both Madison and Jake for speaking so openly about their experiences. Magical thinking and confessional OCD are incredibly common, but many people don’t realize they’re part of OCD. Conversations like these help people better understand their symptoms, feel seen, and recognize that they’re not alone in what they’re going through.
