GET OUT OF MY HEAD
i lowered the volume at the end but still volume warning i scream really loud (21:54 specifically)
time: 123 hours
difficulty: my limit
number of late deaths: NaN
enjoyment: i have a love hate relationship with this golden. i absolutely love how impossible it feels (especially the brick wall that is the endgame) but my god is it demoralising to tank death after death to the ending only to get into a consistency drought the next session. im glad this golden exists but this took so, so much out of me. i felt haunted by this golden for a time period that is just 9 days shy off of having lasted a full year.
i initially picked this up because i wasnt enjoying 7d1d anymore. i was expecting something easier and ended up getting bodied for it. but in hindsight? i feel at peace w all of this, because i think this gave me the exact experience i actually WANTED from 7d1d. because of that, i have no ambitions to get back to 7d1d. mhs filled that gap for me; a consistently demanding summit esque map with an ending i would genuinely call harder than even flag 2 + ogmo in 7d1d. i am not good with difficulty spike endings, but this forced me to overcome that
by an absolute fucking miracle, the exact attempt before this one got to the last part of the final checkpoint. i was nervous so i rushed my movement and messed up a setup. shit was depressing, but SOMEHOW i got back there literally next attempt. i essentially pb'd twice in a row. genuinely wild
lastly i want to mention me placing this above wmfcg in my playlist. while it is absolutely true that wmfcg took me way more time and is objectively the harder challenge, it is also exactly fitting for my skillset. after i started using ninz' updated strats it took me only 30 hours from that point onwards, and mentally it was surprisingly manageable. i simply cannot say the same for mhs. this placement is a very personal thing. there were so many irl things that got in the way, hand issues happened, and most importantly, this map goes against so much of what im good at. i have very little experience with speedtech styled gp so the mauve berry was my nightmare, im terrible with tight cassette gp which is half the map, and difficulty spike endings simply shred me bc nerves only make me more attentive, but they reduce my ability to be precise. because of all this, this golden felt impossible to me and for a long while i was unsure if i would be able to finish it. massive thanks to creepycat and whatsgravity for assisting me w strats, and thanks to everyone who lended me their moral support. you know who you are

precise, rough, ruthless
this is probably my favorite achievement that i have done in the game since i essentially had to stratfind all of the horrible chokepoints in this level (which there are countless of) to make the golden viable at all. the fact this is even possible is basically a complete miracle. there are several extremely precise timings and movements in the map, but somehow, in some way, there was almost always a jank workaround which made it bearable. cp4 in particular was complete hell and it marks the hardest part of the map by far. this is not the hardest thing ive done; at least not from a difficulty standpoint; but looking at it in all aspects, it might as well be.
