As so many of you enjoyed listening to my spoken word "COVID RANTINGS" I thought it was about time I wrote another - so here it is

"The Unsung Heroes" - referring to musicians and creative folk

So take this as either spoken word, rap or just the ramblings of a fed up woman

Absorb, support, just don't ignore

LYRICS

Calling all musicians and creative types
Standing strong, feeling wrong, just trying to fight for our right
- Not just to party, that's just the start see
It goes much deeper than that, into your hearts so free!

Because music is inside of each one us
Whether you make it, fake it or take it - it's in our blood
Because...

It's a healer, aiding dreamers and believers, love seekers, thrill seekers
Hard working school teachers!

It's the friend that we turn to when the shit ain't going right
Just imagine a day without music in our lives
IT'S SHITE!

But we get no recognition
Of our jobs description
Train to be an electrician?
NO - Music is my ADDICTION!

So we slog on and stay strong
Writing song after song
Signing our music to the stream giants
Cant quite contain the excitement
Gonna start my retirement
Rolling in the money from music requirements

But I wake up
Gotta shake up
And face the reality that I might just break up!

Seeing the pennies slowly enter my account
And knowing the hours that I've spent
It makes me just wanna SHOUT!

See being a creative, folk this it's just for fun
And yes, making bad ass beats is second to none!
But when you get asked if you can come and gig
There's no budget but the experience will make you "really big"

It really winds me up
It grinds me up
Why should I work for FREE?
If you were a builder, wanting silver
You'd get paid in money!

But if you'd rather go "SWAPSEYS"
Then yeh that suits me!
I'll do you that gig that'll make me so big
If you extend my two bed to three!

We're THE UNSUNG HEROES - the pick you up you need
When your mood is at ZERO - and your mind needs to be freed!

So when "THIS" is all over
And we're back up on a stage
Come support us - don't ignore us
It works both ways

Because without you - an audience
That's where we get our kicks
The conformation, of elation
That our music ain't so SHIT!
