Some time ago, Bryn and I found ourselves in Santee, CA in search of these very trucks. After a while of finding nothing but full carts, we finally found one street which had both recycling and trash emptied going up, but not coming back down. We quickly followed the trail of empty carts and found this truck first, a rather entertaining Wittke collecting the trash. It was neat to hear it being revved and operating at a decent speed.
From what I understand, many of these trucks have been or soon will be replaced in favor of Peterbilt 320 Amreps.
