Here's a quick demo showing how larger pieces can be held in a mill vise by moving the jaws to the outboard position. In this case, I'm making a cutting table for my 4x6 bandsaw when it is in the vertical position. Even though it isn't shown in the video, this works great with soft jaws as well!
