Check out a review of the just released Machine Gun Fury! I try out the Steam version of this game and played it on a desktop, the Steamdeck and even the Android-based Ayn Thor! This one blends the play styles of some of the most famous arcade and NES classics like Commando, Contra, Jackal and even Robocop! Does this mish-mash of multiple subgenres in one game work? And a quick note, yes, this is more what I'd define as NES+ since it has more sprites on screen, in some cases more colors and in a few cases full screen parallax scrolling, But the design is obviously heavily NES inspired and that was the look they're going for.
