As part of our Culture, Equity, and the Arts focus area within our Chicago Commitment program, the Arts and Culture Loan Fund provides small and medium-sized arts and culture organizations within the Chicago area with loans to address cash flow shortages and strengthen the financial capacity of its borrowers. $Ieva Jusionyte | 2025 MacArthur Fellow Meet Ieva Jusionyte, a cultural anthropologist and 2025 #MacFellow exploring the political and moral ambiguities of border regions and historically shifting distinctions between legal and illegal practices. Her ethnographic accounts are based on years of fieldwork and immersion among people whose occupations give them frontline vantage points on the ways border policies play out in the lives of individuals and communities. From these rarely observed perspectives, Jusionyte reveals how security mechanisms and cycles of violence perpetuate states of emergency and social fracture.
