The new M6 Mac mini is here, but there are still some BIG questions about storage.
Can you upgrade the M6 Mac mini’s internal SSD like we could with the M4? Can you move an upgraded M4 SSD into the new M6? And what happens if you avoid Apple’s expensive internal storage upgrades altogether and run your Home folder from an external SSD?
In this video, I go over what we know so far about the M6 Mac mini’s internal storage, my experience upgrading my M4 and M4 Pro Mac minis, and an unexpected problem I discovered with the new Siri when using an external Home folder under macOS Golden Gate.
The external Home folder method still works and can save you a LOT of money on Apple storage upgrades — but the new Siri application introduces an important limitation you should know about.
