Hiking Yonah Mountain - Best North Georgia Hikes

Lets Go Liz 2024-10-16 | Yonah Mountain is one of the best North Georgia Hikes. Check out our morning Hiking Mt Yonah.

Yonah Mountain is a moderately challenging 4.4 mile out and back hike near Helen Georgia. The climb to the top of Yonah Mountain is 1400 feet. Mount Yonah has gorgeous summit views. The Yonah Mountain Peak stands at 3166 feet.

At the summit you will find a wide open grassy meadow with backpacking campsites. If you explore the side trails on the summit of Mt Yonah you will find amazing views but be super careful and stay away from the edge because there are steep drop offs.

Motul Petit Le Mans Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta - Walk Along Pit & Best Spectator Views

Lets Go Liz 2024-10-14 | We went to the Michelin Pilot Challenge Fox Factory 120 and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship qualifying at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta on October 11, 2024.

The 10-hour Motul Petit Le Mans was on Saturday, October 11th 2024 but we had a blast at the qualifying events on Friday. The FOX Factory 120 showcased the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge. This 120-minute sprint to the checkered flag featured race showcases manufacturers from Chevrolet, BMW, Porsche, McLaren, Mercedes-AMG, Aston Martin and more. The Road Atlanta track is a 2.54-mile, 12-turn natural terrain road course built in 1970.

After the Fox Factory 120 we watched the qualifying rounds for the Petit Le Mans. Motul Petit Le Mans serves as Round Five of the Michelin Endurance Cup.

Before the race we were able to check out the cars - Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, Mustang, Acura - getting ready for the race. We then checked out several viewing points including Spectator Hill and Terrace B Seating. I think Terrace B Seating is the best seating area - it is a short walk from the entrance and it has a great view!

The WeatherTech Championship Classes of Competition:
Grand Touring Prototype (GTP)
The newest and most technologically advanced Prototype race car. Acura, Cadillac, BMW and Porsche – are entered in the class. Each manufacturer developed its own unique internal combustion engine and bodywork styling.

Le Mans Prototype 2 (LMP2)
Closed-cockpit car.

GT Daytona (GTD)
The GT Daytona cars are from leading manufacturers such as Acura, Aston Martin, McLaren, BMW, Ferrari, Lexus, Mercedes-AMG, Lamborghini, and Porsche.

GT Daytona Pro (GTD PRO)
GTD PRO includes race cars built to FIA GT3 technical regulations. Manufacturers include Ferrari, Aston Martin, Lamborghini, Chevrolet, Lexus, Mercedes-AMG and Porsche.

This was a great event in Braselton Georgia and I can't wait to go back next year!

We have 86,400 seconds in a day - our Fall Trailblaze challenge took an unexpected detour when we had to cancel the event due to the damaged Foothills Trail and our devastated communities. Trailblazers still chose to show up and be the light to the community. We broke up into 3 different volunteer groups. This group went to the Pickens, SC airport to help load planes with critical supplies being flown to Western North Carolina.

Lawn seats are general admission tickets and your space on the lawn is first come first serve . We were able to score the Front Row of the Lawn! We had a great view of Hootie and the Blowfish.

The Ameris Bank Amphitheater also has a variety of food and drink - you can see some of the options and pricing as of Summer 2024.

It was a great stay and I would definitely stay in another Holiday Inn Express. I truly think that Holiday Inn Express has the best hotel breakfast and it is FREE! I love the 60 second pancake maker. In addition to the pancakes there were hot options such as sausage and eggs. This Holiday Inn Express breakfast also has cinnamon roll, bagels, fruit and more.

You can find Kalua Pork and Poi at most Hawaii Luaus but I recommend Aloha Kai Luau. You can reserve tickets at AlohaKaiLuau.com

Poke is on the menu at many Hawaii Restaurants but I recommend going to a grocery store such as Foodland or Waikiki Market to see the variety of Hawaiian Poke they offer.

My favorite on this list if Hula Pie from Dukes. Best Dessert Ever!

We stopped for Shave Ice in Waikiki at Lawson but the best Shave Ice in Hawaii is Ululani's Shave ice. They have multiple locations so be sure to check out Ululani's!

We take spam for granted the mainland. In Hawaii you can find it many places including McDonalds! My favorite way to eat Spam is Spam Musubi! You can find it many places including ABC Stores and gas stations.

Of course for a bonus I had to include the Mai Tai. Mai Tais are served at luaus and most restaurants in Hawaii. My favorite places to get a Mai Tai are Duke's and the Royal Hawaiian Mai Tai Bar.

It is 1,048 steps to the top and the steep terrain will take your breath away! The views at the top are worth the strenuous climb! Be sure to bring plenty of water. We also went at 7am to beat the heat but it was still a hot hike.

Lets Go Liz 2024-08-15 | Grilled Meat & Raw Eggs! The definition of Yakiniku is "grilled meat." This is is a Japanese term that refers to grilled meat cuisine. My favorite restaurants in Tokyo were Yakiniku restaurants where you cooked the meat at your table. The meat was delicious and it was a lot of fun to cook it. Check out our dinner of Yakiniku in Shibuya. I recommend adding a raw egg to your meal! This was my first meal in Tokyo where I ate a raw egg!

Daibutsu Trail - Kamakura Hikes - Kita-Kamakura Station to Great Buddha

Lets Go Liz 2024-08-14 | One of the best things to do in Kamakura is hiking the Daibutsu Trail. Kamakura is a short train ride from Tokyo. I got off at the Kita-Kamakura Station and walked to the Jochi-ji Temple. The Daibutsu trail starts just past the Jochi-ji Temple. Along the way I stopped at the Kuzuharaota Shrine. The Zeniarai-Benzaiten Shrine is also close to the Daibutsu trail if you are interested in washing your money at a temple.

The walk along the trail is beautiful and when the trail ends it is a short walk to Kotokuin Temple to see the Great Buddha.

I loved my day trip to Kamakura. The hike from the Kita-Kamakura Train Station to the Great Buddha was the perfect way to start the day in Kamakura Japan.

Lets Go Liz 2024-08-12 | Another great training hike for the Make-A-Wish SC Trailblaze Challenge! We started off at Bad Creek and hiked the Foothills Trail to Upper Whitewater Falls and then we hiked to Lower Whitewater Falls and then back to Bad Creek. We clocked in 10 miles! It was a hot and humid day but we did it as a training hike for the Make-A-Wish Trailblaze Challenge.

Gionyama Hiking Course - Kamakura Japan - Best Japan Hikes

Lets Go Liz 2024-08-09 | Kamakura is a short train ride from Tokyo and has some great Japan hiking trails! The Gionyama Hiking Course is the shortest trail of the Kamakura hiking rails.

I started the Gionyama Hike at old site of Tōshō-ji Temple / Takatori Harakiri Yagura and ended at the Yagumo-jinja Shrine. It was a short hike and took less than an hour. It also has a great scenic point with views of the Pacific Ocean and Yuigahama beach. Apparently you can see Mt Fuji from the scenic point on a clear day. Ending at the Yagumo-jinja Shrine was close to the JR Kamajura Station so it was the perfect finale to my day in Kamakura.

Hiking in Kamakura on the Gion Yama Hiking Course was a great way to refresh in nature (forest bathing!) after spending a few days in Tokyo.

At this popular Tokyo museum there is no map - you simply wander from room to room to take in the stunning art displays. Unfortunately with no map you could miss so rooms so be sure to check out teamLab Borderless tip #4 which is to ask a staff member if you have not found the Bubble Universe room. The Bubble Universe room is the best room at teamLab Borderless.

Another thing you can't miss is having tea at the teamLab Borderless tea house! This is a great way to enjoy tea and art at the same time!

There is another digital art museum, teamLab Planets, that I hope to visit on my next trip to Tokyo Japan.

Lets Go Liz 2024-08-06 | Best of KamaKura Japan - be sure to drink matcha tea in this bamboo forest at Hokokuji Temple!

Most people go to the famous Arashiyama Bamboo Forest in Kyoto but if you are looking for a smaller, less crowded bamboo grove check out Hokokuji Temple in KamaKura. KamaKura is a beach town a little over an hour from Tokyo. This is the perfect day trip from Tokyo.

Hokokuji is home to a small bamboo grove with over 2000 bamboo stalks. The best part is the tea house where you can drink a cup of Matcha Tea while relaxing and taking in the views of the bamboo grove.

Lets Go Liz 2024-08-05 | Check out the view from my Seat at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta Georgia. We were there for the Chelsea F C vs Club América soccer game. My seat in the Mercedes Benz stadium was Section 235 Row 8 Seat 9. This is the section next to Harrah's Cherokee Casino Club.

We had a blast watching Chelsea Soccer v Club America at the Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta Georgia. We would definitely choose these seats again.

Spark by Hilton Room Tour King Suite - Spark Breakfast - Hilton Spark Savannah Georgia Hotels

Lets Go Liz 2024-08-02 | We are back at another Spark by Hilton. This time we were upgraded to the Spark King Suite at the Savannah Georgia location. The room was sparsely decorated but it was clean and comfortable. This Hilton Spark is between the Savannah Georgia airport and the Savannah Tanger Outlets.

Spark by Hilton offers free breakfast. Unlike Hampton Inns which offer a hot breakfast the Hilton Spark Hotels have a bagel bar. In addition to bagels they had oatmeal, yogurt, cereal and muffins.

This Hilton Spark has an outdoor pool and a fitness center.

Spoiler alert: if you are in Japan you must stop by 7- Eleven and try the 7-Eleven egg salad sandwich. I don't even like egg salad and this was one of my favorite meals in Tokyo! The bread was the best I have ever had - it was super soft.

Japan 7-11 stores and other Japanese convenience stores called konbini have a variety of snacks, meals, sushi and drinks that put America's convenience stores such as Quik Trip to shame.

Best Conveyor Belt Sushi - Genki Sushi - Uobei - Best Shibuya Restaurants - Shibuya Tokyo Sushi

Lets Go Liz 2024-07-30 | We had a great time eating conveyor belt sushi in Tokyo. Genki Sushi Uobei was one of the best Shibuya Restaurants. The meal was fun and the prices were low.

We tried so many different things at Genki Sushi Uobei such as Tuna, Eel, Sea Bass and yellowtail. We also tried beef rib, okonomiyaki, ramen, fried tofu and sliced omelette.

After ordering on a touch screen the sushi was whisked to you via the conveyor belt. It was fast and fun.

Lets Go Liz 2024-07-26 | Brasstown Falls Waterfall Hike is the Ultimate Waterfall Adventure! This is one of the best waterfalls in South Carolina. Located in Oconee County this is a short 1.5 mile roundtrip hike to 3 epic waterfalls!

Upper Brasstown Falls is off of a spur trail so make sure you do not miss that one but my favorite is the calm wading pool at lower Brasstown Falls.

If you are in Oconee County do not miss this ultimate waterfall hike! It is a great place to cool off in the summer and it this South Carolina waterfall hike beautiful with the colorful leaves in the fall!

The Long Creek Falls Trail is not the most scenic but once you get to Long Creek Falls it is such a perfect location. It has a place to safely sit and enjoy watching the waterfall. It is also located off the Chattooga River so you can also sit on the banks of the river and enjoy that view. You may even see rafting trips and kayakers paddle by!

This is the best waterfall in South Carolina to take a picnic and spend some time enjoying the views.

Table Rock State Park - Carrick Creek Loop + Lake Trail - Make-A-Wish Trailblaze Challenge

Lets Go Liz 2024-07-17 | I signed up for the Make-A-Wish Trailblaze Challenge once again! This will be my fifth time doing this fundraising hike. We train together for a few weeks and then we hike 28.3 miles in one day to raise money to make Wishes come true!
