I had to say goodbye to Lydia, in particular. I can't even begin to explain how much this fictional character helped me through these years. We - Lydia and I - have similarities, we both dealt with trust issues and got over them, for example. But it's not just that. I grew more and more attached to Lydia through the seasons, I felt so much admiration for this young woman who decided to appreciate herself, to not believe to the sh/t she was said to be. She decided that she was strong, that she survived again and again and she didn't feel ashamed, she was proud instead. I realised it's quite difficult to catch all her aspects, all her shades, all the ways she grew into this confident, strong woman who learnt to love herself above everything and everyone, but would still give her life to save the people she loves. I chose some precise quotes, from Doctor Who and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, which I find perfect for Lydia and also perfect for me to say a proper goodbye.
Every scene, every sequence of frames I picked was intentional and carefully planned. So I really hope you'll get what I tried to tell about her. So many times I felt as if I was Clara, telling her from the other side of the screen not to be afraid or ashamed, to be strong and save herself, to love herself, not to feel guilty. So when I heard this quote and associated it to Lydia I just started crying because I realised that this character means so much to me. I'll never be grateful enough to Holland because she had the courage and determination to portray such a complex human being and creature, almost never potrayed before on TV Shows. And she grew so much, professionally, I'm really speechless.
As Coulson says about Skye, 'she said no', her story wasn't finished, she decided she could write her own story and make it amazing. Her story started here. And it will always be in my head, in my memories, because 'it was the best'. It really was.
