***UPDATE. November 5, 2023. The following comment was posted on the Doug Poppa Podcast X (Twitter) page apparently from an LVMPD police officer: Solid report…Couple of observations. The officer who lowered his rifle doesn’t do so because he doesn’t perceive a threat, it’s because he has two officers in a crossfire from him in front of the car, technically against policy to place yourself in front of a moving vehicle/ or one that could move. [SWAT Officer] Ferrin would be in violation of that. This is absolutely a negative discharge following the flash bang deployment. It’s why you have no body-worn camera view of the suspect and why [LVMPD Assistant Sheriff] Walsh went over the top with how bad the guy is. Basically, the plan went to shit when the vehicle got mobile, Ferrin placed himself in front of the vehicle which is a bad position, team to the rear had to come off gun because of him in a crossfire position and the flash bang caused a sympathetic reflex pull and he killed a really bad guy. The ramming of the vehicle by the BearCat was extremely reckless as it was on the passenger side where I believe the hostage was. Ramming of a vehicle is deadly force according to LVMPD policy. Finally, the multiple gunshot wounds is “most likely” the select fire option on the Colt M4 rifle. Either 3 round burst or the full auto was most likely selected (if equipped) and the single trigger pull dispersed more than 1 bullet.***
***UPDATE. November 4, 2023, marked one year since the shooting and no LVMPD investigative reports have been released. According to the LVMPD website the reports on the criminal and administrative investigations are still pending.***
