110 years ago today, the RMS Lusitania was 12 miles off the coast of Ireland when a single torpedo slammed into the starboard side of ship. 18 minutes is all it would take for the great liner to vanish beneath the waves taking 1198 souls with her.
The sinking would spark outrage across the globe and was the first of many factors leading to the US Involvement in the First World War.
