Many thanks to all the atoms that participated in this video and made it possible, including and especially the low entropy atomic configurations of C-West (Chloe Western) and KT Boundary (Katie Ernst)!

Lyrics:

Old bonds breaking. Atoms rearranging.
That complex, you know, activated.
Energy and enthalpy, releasing and storing.
Heed the warning: Safety first. Don't ignore it!

Endothermic: Reactant bonds sever.
Exothermic: The product comes together.
Measure whichever is greater, pencil and paper,
Like a true player chem crusader calculator.

Might see a color change.

So now I'm wondering, do I got a new substance?
I see some bubbling. Puzzling.
In a sense it's evidence.
Pretty sure in class we covered this.

These atoms rearrange.

It's all about the valence
And atomic displacement, changing.
Got reducing agents. Oh, and by the way, Lund,
When will grades be updated?

Could form precipitates.

Coming out of solution.
The reaction produced it.
Got ions fusing. Insoluble - they aint dissolving.
Matter of fact, they refuse it.

Gas from the carbonates.

Got hit with some acid.
Bubbles indicate reaction.
Concentrated goes rapid.
Dilute slow as molasses.

Slow...as...mo-lass-es.

Wanna speed it up, you can try to catalyze it.
Wanna know the mechanism, gotta analyze it.
Want electrons lost? Oxidize it!
But something gets reduced. And that's your assignment. Try to find it.

Energy flashing. Electrons dispatching
Photons to go on to lower states - crashing.
Reverse the reaction. Put them atoms on backspin.
Le Châtelier...helping to estimate the max/min.

Hydrogen exploding with lit wood splint.
Like peroxides and aqueous liquids.
Watch the clocks. I'd make sure to not miss it.
Iodine clock reaction. It's legit. (Aw, I missed it.)

Detect a new odor.

In the lab try not to breathe any fumes.
Still can't deny,
I think I smell something new, don't you?
Oh yes, I think I do.

Might need to look closer.

Evidence could be slight. Might take over night.
Just give it some time.
Takes a while for certain types of elements to combine.
That's right. That's right.

Maybe it gets colder.

Absorbing energy depletes the heat
Of nearby surrounding territory.
Could you record the temperature for me?
Sure thing.

Observe till it's over.

Could be a twist at the end.
Some reactions have multiple steps
And the last might be the best.
Think this'll be on the test?
