Season 1, Episode 2: One Of Those Days

Jul 2018.
We went for a walk. Not the a-day-in-the-sun kind of walk, but a let’s-talk-about-things kind of walk. There was an intense amount of tension in the air between us and I couldn’t help wondering why there was this feeling sitting in my guts. I haven’t seen her for quite some time. She isn’t even living in the same city anymore, which probably is a good thing, because the end of our relationship was a terrible drama. It wasn’t a mutual breakup. It was me who made the decision that we should part our ways, so who am I to be jealous of a guy she’s dating? And since when did she start to smoke? All these questions running through my head and I don’t even know why. I’m zoning out. Feels like I don’t even know her anymore, because the self-centered me didn’t think of her life going on as well. I’m doing fine without her, so why does it bother me that she feels the same way? Everything she’s saying sounds so fake. Like she doesn’t even mean it. Things that feel like she’s only telling me to make me jealous, but who am I to be jealous? I’m the fucking worst. Well here we are. I stopped listening to her, but somehow she always finds her way back into my ear.
“I’m doing so much better without you.”
“Now I know what I’ve been missing out the whole time.”
“You’re right, there is someone better for me out there.”
Why does it hurt so much?
“Do you think it was the right decision that we met?”
I ask wondering why I ever agreed to see her.
“Oh, definitely. I feel so much better now.”
She answers.
