Russia's Luna-25 spacecraft crashed into the Moon after it lost contact with ground control. The unmanned craft was Russia's first mission to the Moon in nearly 50 years, and it was scheduled to make a soft landing on the lunar south pole. Roscosmos, Russia's space agency, said that the spacecraft had entered an "unpredictable orbit" and "ceased to exist" as a result of a collision with the lunar surface.
