LUMI - Rakas EP
Stream & Buy - turborec.lnk.to/LumiRakas
‘Rakas’ marks LUMI’s anticipated debut on Tiga’s esteemed Turbo Recordings, after a series of hotly received music already from the Finnish producer that have landed on labels including HE.SHE.THEY, Second State, Octopus Recordings and Kneaded Pains.
Like all of LUMI’s music, the four tracks on ‘Rakas’ present a radical exploration of tough dance stylings. Exquisitely executed, the EP cautiously edges into life with lead track ‘In Ether’ before breaking into an EBM-type beat. The breakdowns are methodical, gradually arriving before then departing on a railroad of stuttering hats, metallic recoiling bass and heady melodies.
LUMI noticeably ups the stakes with ‘Rakas’. A dark, shifting bass signals its introduction but before long a series of hoover stabs begin to loom aside pacy drumrolls all of which fuse gloriously to soundtrack LUMI’s chopped vocals. The EP continues to ascend with the fittingly titled, ‘Don’t
Stop’. With its Detroit house leanings channelled at varying points of the track, the beat casually gets underway arriving at a surprisingly hectic drop to then jolt, shake and backflip its way to a close.
Rounding off the release is ‘Hey’ which jitters with a shuffling energy, gaping sawtooth effects and a looping rave motif that remains a constant almost throughout. Yet again, by mining her cerebral knowledge of electronic music, LUMI has delivered a collection of tracks that draw on many of her musical influences whilst retaining her own signature style.

Turbo 25 [Turbo 225]
Stream & Buy - http://www.turborec.lnk.to/Turbo.25
In December of 2022, with Turbo Recordings nearing the cusp of its 25th year, label Owner, Founder and Executive Vision Honcho Tiga sent out an urgent missive to friends and collaborators across the globe:
SEND ME ONE AWESOME TRACK AND LETS GET RICH BABYCAKES. SEND ME FILLER AND YOUR PERSONAL CONTACT INFO GOES STRAIGHT INTO THE TURBO DISCORD SO YOU CAN ‘CONNECT WITH OUR FANS.”
This brazen threat spoke to the hearts of some of dance music’s greatest talents, who within days gathered outside Tiga’s Montreal fortress carrying thumb drives bursting with melody, rhythm, and more than a little timbre. Now, after months of brutal attrition and line-crossing personal rejection, we are proud to present you with the very best of the best.
While the mere mention of a label compilation is enough to get anyone’s imagination rock-hard, just consider some of the names involved. From legends like Soulwax (as 2manydjs), Matias Aguayo, Jori Hulkkonen, The Hacker, Seth Troxler, and Audion to modern masters like Cora Novoa, Disfreq, Nikki Nair, Fedele, Mathame (and many more), Turbo 25 spans soundscapery from the label’s rich past, rich present, and VR-heavy future. It stands as an unqualified triumph of networking, goodwill toward men, and Dropbox.
As Turbo Recordings joins the long-lived ranks of Northrop Grumman, the Carlyle Group, and HSBC Malta, this corporate anniversary presents an opportunity for reflection, a chance to bask in the refractory glow before the next 25 years of our label bring about Paradise on Earth. Maybe all of this culminates with every single Turbo artist ever DJing and dancing alongside world leaders and Web3 visionaries at the Hadron Collider main stage. Maybe it’s finally time to release Tiga and Manu Chaos reggaefied hip-house stomper, “Get Vertical.” Literally anything is possible.
Onward into 2023-2048, Phase 2 of 10.

David Michael Cross - Cold War [Turbo 220]
Stream & Buy - https://turborec.lnk.to/ColdWar
In mistrust and blindness mankind wages a COLD WAR, East against West in a spiraling cycle of mindless escalation. For 40 years the madness continues until it reaches its inevitable climax, NUCLEAR WAR. Armageddon is achieved at the push of a button, millions of lives are destroyed. Those who are spared struggle for survival in the bleak conditions of NUCLEAR WINTER. Acid rain destroys the landscape, darkness falls across the face of the earth and hope is lost as the population falls prey to radiation sickness and cancer.
Deep underground, the last survivor works feverishly in his isolated laboratory. A lone scientist attempting desperately to save mankind, he uses occult technology and deep-frozen human tissue to create a group of 12 radiation-resistant HUMAN CLONES. They set forth to rebuild and repopulate the planet, whilst the scientist continues his work to improve and strengthen mankind. He develops a technique to fuse his own living flesh with the transistorized mind of a supercomputer, transforming himself into FUTURE MAN. Synergy of man and machine. Having transcended his mortal condition, he is now deemed ready to meet THE ELOHIM, a race of super-evolved aliens who created mankind 40000 years ago and have been watching and waiting ever since for the day when man at last becomes enlightened. They descend from the heavens in their storship telling Future Man to rejoice, for the trials of mankind are over and they sing to him of their long wait and THE GOLDEN AGE which is about to begin. Future Mom and the Clones are taken on board the spacecraft whereupon the Elohim transport them through the STAR GATE to a planet paradise where they are able to live in peace and happiness and once again become prosperous and many.
All titles written and produced by David Michael Cross. Engineered by David Michael Cross and Philippe Funky Tremblay. Recorded at Future Man Studio, Montreal. Synthesizer, piano, drum machine & vocals performed by David Michael Cross. Guitar & vocoder performed by Philippe Funky Tremblay.

Raxon - 4T20M [Turbo 254]

Most pro philosophers will tell you that everything in life is essentially unknowable. And perhaps nowhere is this more true than the world of dance music, where you mostly have to rely on teenagers peaking on “designer drugs” to tell you what’s what and why. Thankfully, Turbo Recordings is here to cut right through the crap with all the facts on Raxon.
The Egyptian-born producer makes his long-overdue Turbo debut with an EP will have you exclaiming, “That’s modern music just the way I like it!,” as your parents look on, beaming with pride. Listen to the sick bass on house bomb “Basick Beat,” the ripped-from-the-streets electro of “Flow Motion,” the analog dirge of “Who Knows?” and the trance-adjacent thrill ride of “It’s Called the Power,” and ask yourself: “Could this be the first great release of 2026? It’s worth looking into.
Face it, Jack — we live in world of questions. “Was I raised by strong women?” “Do the Beatles get enough credit for inventing tech-house?” “Oh won’t a Rope Ladder Lover come and rescue me?” But at Turbo, we know deep down that wondering about things is a sign of mental and physical weakness, and we take pride in pumping your pathetic muscles with the musical answers your body positively yearns for. It’s what God put us in this office to do.

Cora Novoa - LFOs & Creatures [Turbo 231]
Stream & Buy - https://turborec.lnk.to/LFOsCreatures
For a rising Turbo artist, your second release is what really makes you part of the family, culminating in a “Blood In, Blood Out” ritual held in Tiga’s basement rumpus room. “LFOs and Creatures,” Cora Novoas second EP for the Canadian imprint, explores the terrifyingly fertile intersection between synthesizers and the unholy fiends of the nighttime world (but thankfully not Count Dracula, a deeply unhappy man).
The title track sees the Spanish techno producer and researcher harnessing previously undiscovered presets and tempos to expand the very limits of peak the as we currently understand it. Meanwhile, non-title tracks “Digital Identities” and “Self Control” push the boundaries even further, evoking a machine-only industrial warehouse rave where the conveyor belts, lathes, and double-arm extruders can finally let it all out on the dance floor. The EP closes with lead single “Oracle,” a piece of hypnotic ambient pop that will make you question whether we live in a simulation a full eight years after even Bank of America weighed in on the subject.
Now comes the uncomfortable part. Ideally, music should be free and for the most part it functionally is. But for the purposes of this discussion, we are compelled to remind you that this EP is for sale. Please try to think of it as less of a transaction and more as a symbolic gesture of the profound respect and gratitude you feel when you think about listening to our music. We keep on telling you that that’s the price of love.
