You can grow your own sponge, no dive equipment needed! Luffa sponge is an easy-to-grow annual vine for your Florida garden that is the perfect multi-use permaculture homesteading crop. It is virtually maintenance-free, prefers to grow in our swampy Florida summers, attracts boatloads of pollinators, & provides a fun multi-use product. I like to plant it in late spring and pretty much abandon it over the summer then come back in fall to harvest the gourds.
