Nora has had enough. She is no longer going to be Torvald’s doll-wife. He has never understood her, or loved her. Just like her father, he has raised her like a doll, while the children have been her dolls. Nora tells Torvald that she is leaving him, and his house, tonight. Torvald protests, but it’s no use. Nora is finally ready to be the independent woman she needs to be, and knows that nothing short of a miracle could save them, but Nora doesn’t believe in miracles anymore. Torvald hopes for a miracle, but when Nora finally slams the door, the message is clear: this dollhouse is officially history. And I’d say that’s definitely for the best.
