Buildings account for 18% of Canada’s greenhouse gas emissions, and organizations like the Smart Sustainable Resilient Infrastructure Association (SSRIA) are seeking innovative solutions to this problem.

Through their three primary programs, The Smart Sustainable Tech Showcase, Business Growth Program, and Innovation Fund, SSRIA is accelerating the adoption of innovative low-carbon solutions through demonstration project funding and supporting the growth of SMEs. One standout project from the first round of their innovation fund is T5M Connect, a multi-family residential building in Edmonton, Alberta. As the first multi-family building in Alberta to achieve Passive House certification, T5M Connect is just one of many buildings leading the path forward for innovative low-carbon solutions.

Through project funding, SSRIA has demonstrated 38 technologies in 48 buildings across Alberta. Each project has averaged 62% energy savings—that’s equal to 8,000 tons of GHG emission reductions!
