This is a Philips Sox-E 18 watt low pressure sodium lamp starting up at dusk in a homemade "street light" fixture I built out of a cookie tin, zip ties, and a yardstick for the arm.
I'm running it on a Fulham Workhorse 2 instant start electronic ballast which was normally meant to operate T-5 and compact fluorescent lamps but seems to power the 18 watt LPS lamp just fine. I also didn't have a BY22d socket so I soldered wires directly to the contacts on the lamp cap.
The lamp starts off a reddish orange color then warms up to golden yellow after about 8 minutes. You can also hear a neighbor's kid setting off bottle rockets and riding his moped in the background
