Metabolic Mind | Low Carb is Not The Same As Keto! @metabolicmind | Uploaded November 2023 | Updated October 2024, 44 minutes ago.
Low carb and keto diets are not the same thing, and knowing the difference can help you use ketogenic therapies to treat psychiatric conditions like bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, depression, anorexia, and neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's Disease. But you may have heard that keto is dangerous and can increase heart disease or even cause you to die prematurely. That sounds scary, but again, it's crucial to understand that science on poorly defined low-carb diets has nothing to do with the physiologic state of ketosis, something you can achieve through many dietary patterns, including vegan, vegetarian, Mediterranean, carnivore, and others.
