Natalie Mendoza (Arachne), Reeve Carney (Peter Parker/Spider-Man), Jennifer Damiano (Mary Jane) and the ensemble perform Love Me or Kill Me and the Finale of the show featuring reprises of Turn off the Dark and Rise Above 2. This is the original ending of the show as performed in the first ever preview performance on Broadway. Later in the run of the first version of the show the Love Me or Kill Me lyrics were cut and it was purely instrumental. Eventually the entire story-line was rewritten and this ending was scrapped entirely along with much of Arachne's story.

This scene is the final showdown between Peter Parker and Arachne, who forces Peter to choose between saving Mary Jane and staying with Arachne forever or letting MJ die. Eventually Peter chooses to sacrifice himself to save Mary Jane and Arachne is shocked to discover that there is still humanity in the curse of the spider. Arachne lets Peter go and in doing so finds her own humanity and is freed from her curse and ascends. Peter and Mary Jane are briefly reunited before she urges him to follow his calling as Spider-Man and he rushes off to save the city.
