EDIT: 5 years, 45k views, and 1.8k likes later and I am absolutely still taken aback by how much this video blew up. It really means a lot to me. Utena has always had a special place in my heart and was one of my very first animes as a kid. It's something I always go back to no matter how long it's been. The love story, narrative, the dismantling of and analysis of fairy tale archetypes, the role that abuse and the patriarchy plays in peoples' lives and how it forms their views, and the characters themselves, have always stuck with me. Now I'm here, 27 years old, a nonbinary ace lesbian, and I'm sure even as I continue to grow older that it will continue to do so.

also this show was SO good.... more than it had any right to be. Probably the best adaption of a dr seuss story that isnt jim careys grinch tbh. It helps that Green Eggs and Ham was my favorite dr seuss story when i was a kid.
