Ohh boy this one got real dark real quick
After a near fatal car crash, Emmy was put on painkillers, which she kept taking because her arm didn't heal properly and she was living with chronic pain. Use quickly turned to abuse, which turned into her mixing a days long alcohol bender into it as well. Her husband, Edward was growing increasingly concerned for her, and decided that admitting her to rehab before anything worse happened would be the best choice. Aaand you can see how him leaving her home alone went. On the way home they had an argument, and Emmy managed to convince Ed to let her stay at home just until next week's yearly movie award ceremony (basically the oscars), because she'd be the laughing stock of the acting community if she couldn't go because of being in rehab.
