The Salon Carré might be the most amazing and famous rooms in the Louvre! Used as the chapel for Napoleon's marriage in 1810, but during its heyday, this room was THE room to be in if you were an artist. The famous Salon art exhibitions were held in here, and if your work was chosen, it would literally change your life!
After holding hundreds of art exhibitions, this room was converted into the Italian Renaissance room, which once held the Mona Lisa. Or, at least until someone decided to steal it. Be sure to check out my animated episode about the theft of the Mona Lisa!
