If your AMD Ryzen CPU fan is making loud noise even when the PC is idle, the issue is often Windows power plan settings, not the fan itself.
In this video, I show how changing Processor Power Management → Maximum processor state in Windows can instantly reduce Ryzen CPU fan noise without affecting daily performance. By default, Windows allows the CPU to boost aggressively, which causes unnecessary heat and forces the fan to spin loudly.
You’ll learn:
Why AMD Ryzen CPU fans run loud at idle
How Maximum processor state affects CPU temperature and fan speed
The exact Windows power plan settings to reduce Ryzen fan noise
How to keep performance stable while lowering fan RPM
When this fix works and when hardware changes are needed
This method is safe, reversible, and works on most Ryzen 5, Ryzen 7, and Ryzen 9 systems using stock or aftermarket CPU coolers.
If your CPU fan gets loud on startup, light usage, or random tasks, this simple power plan tweak can make your PC quieter immediately.
