Halocaridina rubra, the Opae ula or Hawaiian Volcano Shrimp or Supershrimp, produce larvae that float in the water column (they’re planktonic) for a couple of weeks before molting into tiny version of the adults. They are strongly attracted to light during this planktonic stage, as seen here! I had just caught a bunch of shrimp and removed a large amount of excess algae, which is why the water is cloudy.
