Traci Reed | Lost your mojo? Maybe this tips will help! @tracimreed | Uploaded May 2024 | Updated October 2024, 44 minutes ago.
We ALL go through creative slumps. I've been scrapbooking since I was 9 years old so I have been through many but this was the first time where I actually considered hanging up my hat with scrapbooking.
Turns out I was burned out and BORED with what I was doing. I was creating just to check off boxes and not to actually make something I loved. That's never a recipe for a good creative experience. So what did I do to find the love again?
➡️ First, I NEVER touched my supplies until I was feeling the need to create. I just let them sit there and never allowed myself to create out of obligation.
➡️ When I WAS ready to create, I stopped trying to "keep up" with my album and scrap my most recent photos and instead have been reaching as far back as 2018 (so far) for photos with which to create. This meant I was ALWAYS scrapbooking a subject or story I wanted to, rather than felt I had to.
➡️ I changed EVERYTHING. I changed sizes (I've made 9x12, 12x12 AND Life Crafted pages this month - in addition to mini albums), I allowed myself to use my considerable digital skills on digital AND paper pages, I added more techniques and details to my pages than ever before - including busting out the silhouette, digital templates AND sewing machine. Allowing myself to PLAY instead of make a page as quickly as possible to get it done made my heart flutter with joy again!
➡️ Lastly, I looked to the community for inspiration! I have been avoiding all scrappy spaces while my mojo was dead and have missed so much! Let the community inspire you!
