So many years after the show's ending, Michael Giacchino's amazing soundtrack for LOST still has many, many secrets to uncover. Not only does every main character have their own theme music, but much like the interconnected writing of the show itself, Giacchino's score connects locations, scenes, emotions and conflicts in unbelievably brilliant ways. For the foreseeable future, I will be exploring Michael Giacchino's soundtrack from ABC's LOST in a weekly video, covering all episodes of the show and their musical connections to each other.

Game Of Thrones is back! And so is Ramin Djawadi’s amazing soundtrack for the show. For part 2, I’ve chosen to focus on themes that will likely play a major part in the show’s eigth and final season, including music for Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen, Cersei Lannister, dragons, White Walkers and more. This soundtrack guide will help you through them all.
No worries – I’m not done with the character themes just yet. Part 3 will include themes for Littlefinger, Stannis Baratheon, Bran Stark, Dothraki, Joffrey Baratheon, Samwell Tarly, Tyrion Lannister and more.

This simple synthesizer motif shares part of its melody with the shows main theme. In two of its four appearances throughout season 1, it precedes a variation on the “island theme” (#10). Also, rain!

Michael Giacchino considers himself a storyteller first and a musician second. On LOST, his soundtrack doesnt just suit the story of the show - it adds to it. By attaching certain scenes to established characters, locations, emotions and events through his music, Giacchino provides additional context and meaning to whats happening on screen. This way, understanding Giacchinos rich collection of themes and leitmotifs is another way to further appreciate the score, as well as the show in general.
