2025 saw more major lost media discoveries than most years. In this video, I cover the most important finds, including the lost Dora the Explorer pilot, early Phineas and Ferb pitch material, the original Me and My Friends pilot, the SpongeBob SquarePants 4-D pre-show, and several other long-missing projects.
These releases brought back canceled pilots, unreleased animation, forgotten broadcasts, and abandoned film material that had been missing for decades, offering a clearer look at how these projects originally existed before disappearing.

The cases covered include:
Dora the Explorer Pilot – A late-1990s test episode accepted by Nickelodeon but never aired, featuring early character designs and the prototype version of what would later become the episode Beaches. The full pilot finally surfaced in June 2025.
Phineas and Ferb Pitch & Pilot – Early pitch reels and a complete pilot animatic created in 2005, showing drastically different character designs, unused jokes, and placeholder music. Both the animatic and full-color pitch material surfaced in June 2025.
Me and My Friends – A live-action puppet pilot filmed in 1998 that later evolved into The Backyardigans. Long believed mostly lost, the complete pilot surfaced in June 2025 before being taken down.
SpongeBob SquarePants 4-D Pre-Show – A queue video made exclusively for the theme park ride and never broadcast on television. Only fragments existed until the full pre-show was recovered and uploaded in July 2025.
Picasso Face Commercial – A mysterious distorted face clip attached to a Japanese pocket-warmer commercial, misidentified for years. In July 2025, it was confirmed to be a 1983 commercial for a Picasso print retrospective.
The Muppets Present – An early-2000s canceled Muppet revival intended for FOX. The full pitch presentation, long rumored to exist, was uploaded in August 2025.
Roger Rabbit Screenplays – Multiple abandoned prequel projects, including Who Discovered Roger Rabbit and The Toon Platoon. A 1998 draft surfaced in September 2025, becoming the most complete record of the canceled films.
Black Sabbath (Dave Walker Era) – The band’s only televised performance with vocalist Dave Walker, broadcast once in 1978 and considered lost for decades. The full footage surfaced in November 2025.
Weird Al Beatnik Remix – An official remix of Pretty Fly for a Rabbi created for Yahoo!’s Beatnik GrooveGrams contest. In December 2025, an archived page revealed only a 4-second loop survives, confirming the full remix remains lost.
