This violin (MIMEd 0326), made by the Hornsteiner family in Mittenwald, Germany in the 18th century, was owned and played by William Marshall (27 December 1748 – 29 May 1833). Marshall was one of Scotland's most prolific composers and is regarded as one of the greatest composers of Scottish fiddle music.
Lori Watson is an award-winning performer and Lecturer in Scottish Ethnology, part of the Celtic and Scottish Studies Department at The University of Edinburgh. She has become a leading interpreter of Scottish folk music and Scots song and her skills as a performer, composer, researcher and educator are widely recognised.
