Dr.Loretta Long (She holds a doctoral degree! She earned her Ed.D. (Doctor of Education) in Urban Education from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1973,completing it while actively starring on Sesame Street) is the last surviving original adult cast member of Sesame Street.😭 She has played Susan since 1969 and although she was phased out as an original cast member in 2016,she has continued to make sporadic appearances,such as The Sesame Street 59th Anniversary Celebration in 1969.
This is her only non-Sesame Street musical release.

Released in 1969 (not 1968 as often misquoted) on ITCO Records. This LP is a full reinterpretation of the Hair musical,filtered through a distinctly psychedelic and pop-rock lens. It’s not the original Broadway cast,nor a straight cover album,but a studio reimagining with swirling arrangements,dialogue snippets,and a heavy dose of late-’60s counterculture flair. The label itself,ITCO,was a short-lived imprint distributed by Hourglass Records,and the album was recorded at Andrus Studio,with lacquer cuts done at Bell Sound Studios. Pressing was handled by Sonic Recording Products,and the production credits include Mickey Shapiro and Walt Andrus,with album coordination by Jimmy Tyrrell and Norm Stollman. The artwork,designed by Forlenza Venosa Associates,features visuals by Bob Venosa,whose surrealist style adds to the album’s trippy aura. What makes this LP especially collectible is its rarity,original pressings are hard to come by,and sealed copies are even scarcer. It includes all the major tracks from Hair: “Aquarius,” “Donna,” “Let the Sunshine In,” “I Got Life,” and “Good Morning Starshine,” but also deeper cuts like “Electric Blues” and “Black Boys and White Boys,” arranged with a looser,more experimental vibe than the Broadway versions. For fans of psych-pop,outsider interpretations,or obscure studio projects,Hair by The Aquarian Age is a gem. It’s not just a cover album,it’s a cultural time capsule,refracting the optimism and chaos of 1969 through fuzz guitars,theatrical vocals,and kaleidoscopic production.
