Humanoids, rejoice: advanced tactile sensing is now within reach! Madison (Maddy) Maxey, CEO & founder of LOOMIA, and teammate Jennifer Enriquez sit down with Hackster PRO Partner @glowascii to chat about their newly-announced "Smart Skin" developer kit. For years, the company has been providing ultra-thin, flexible interfaces for automotive and medical applications and beyond, and Alex has been itching to interview them, so this is going to be a great show!
Designed for humanoid robots, this new kit includes a three-finger tactile sensing glove, capacitive sensors capable of detecting minuscule forces, small and large pressure matrices, peel-and-stick variants that can be applied directly to the robot, and a static weight kit for calibration – plus two hours of direct engineering support! It comes with Arduino-compatible visualization software, too. LOOMIA's choices were informed by over 100 interviews with roboticists working across humanoid platforms, automation, and medical devices.
