Elves live long lives, far longer than that of humans, or goblins, or most others. Therefore, their view of the passage of time is distant and dispassionate. A calamity for a human may as well be a momentary inconvenience for an elf of centuries. But though time will make a leisurely stroll of claiming the elves, death is not so patient, nor predictable. Such is the lesson learned by a young elven noble when her life is brought within inches of its end, and a burning reminder of her mortality will stare back at her every time she looks into the mirror...
