James has had a good week: the Movement Drum Computer has been a long term back burner project of ours for some years and today it is officially working (if not back in one piece).
There remains one final piece of the puzzle - to get the tape save/load working, but it can now be programmed and played. We’ll have to wait until next week to reassemble but this is exciting news: we’ve owned this for maybe ten years and have always hoped to resurrect it.
Only 30 are thought to have been produced making it one of the rarest drum machines on the planet. Dave Stewart famously used a mk1 which can be seen in the video for Eurythmics Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This and Aphex Twin has one (of course he does).
Very excited to start making some sounds and recording a sample pack for Soundgas Sounds once’s it’s back together😃
