I never wanted to be a solo artist. I didn’t want to be the centre of attention. I’ve always preferred working in a group environment. I felt the most comfortable writing and working with other musicians. I still believe that has been my best work. However when I try to come up with new demos or riffs for songs, I sometimes question if people will even like it. Will I even like it? There have been times where I didn’t want to have a guitar in my hand, because I was afraid of writing a bunch of bullshit that didn’t make sense.
The last year or so made it very tricky for me to be creative. And it wasn’t just writer’s block that made my personal stress get to me. I wanted to get away from not only my problems but refrain from everything going on and just be on my own. I needed a time and place for myself for where I didn’t need music. Even though I wasn’t done with songwriting, it was hard to find that motivation. At the end of the day, I knew I had to challenge myself to keep that drive going.
This past summer, I chose to take notice, and just get out of my comfort zone. I wanted to come up with something completely different from what I’m used to. After experimenting with different tunings, guitar tones, mixing techniques, and whatever number cups of coffee I had; I believe I came up with something that I know I enjoy, and I hope you will as well!
So with that being said, I’m pleased to tell you all that my debut solo instrumental EP entitled “Home Away From Home” will be available March 29th, 2022!
