Logan Paul just embarrassed every YouTuber.
Youtube are putting Profit ahead of Principles.
So, here is my Warning to YouTube.
You already know the story. So I’m not here to be offended on behalf of the Japanese people, many people, Japanese or otherwise have already commented on the issue and the significance of Aokigahara, and we’re not going to go through the video point by point, you’ve already watched the video and if you’re a sane person you’ve quite rightly been disgusted and offended.
Logan Paul purposely made a video in Japan's Aokigahara forest, a site notorious and infamous for suicides due to links with folklore and history. He came across a dead body and did not cease filming or joking around with his friends. Logan Paul felt it necessary to post the video, and has responded to the criticism and media attention. Logan Paul's apology was released on Twitter and in his own video, where he claims he was not thinking, but my frustration comes from the amount of effort and time that goes into releasing something on Youtube, that I can't believe everything Logan Paul was knowing and intentional, and the actions of a man (and entourage) that believes he can, and will, get away with anything. Unfortunately YouTube has essentially confirmed this, with little action or penalty other than removing the offending video, and has received all sorts of YouTube Criticism.
So here is my Warning to Youtube:
You are not interested in brand loyalty or brand responsibility. You’re not interested in embracing your responsible creators and weeding out those that disobey your rules and embarrass you. And as soon as there is some new platform, a new site, that offers a better deal, that has a backbone, that doesn’t seem more interested in profit than principles, people are going to jump ship, because you have not invested in keeping creators here.
