It was a bit of a shock when the box suddenly locked up as I was entering a roundabout. The bike skidded to a stop and resisted every attempt to even push or pull it out of the road, but a chap rushed up and helped me quickly drag it out of the road before anyone else came along. I tried rocking it backwards and forwards to no avail, so I split the chain to let me push it somewhere safer, where I dug into the box as far as the bikes toolkit would let me. I ended up calling the RAC for the first time ever, and what a load of pissing around and time wasting that turned out to be. Anyway, I pulled it apart this morning and found nothing obvious, and a test ride around the village didn't repeat the fault. The only suspect is the selector drum and or the detent plunger and spring which I will replace in the next few days before my next ride out..
