AI tools are becoming part of everything, but do you really want every prompt, file, idea, and private question going to somebody else’s server? In this video, I’ll show you how to run local AI on Linux using Ollama, explain the difference between cloud AI and local AI, walk through a beginner-friendly setup, and show how Open WebUI can give you a browser-based interface for your own self-hosted AI assistant. Local AI is not perfect, and it does not replace every cloud AI service, but it gives Linux users, homelab builders, and privacy-conscious people more control over their tools, data, and workflow.
