Lobsang Sangay is a senior visiting fellow at Harvard Law School and the former democratically elected leader of the Central Tibetan Administration. At the 2025 College Freedom Forum at Tufts University, he explains how the Chinese Communist Party’s occupation of Tibet is driven by a desire to control the region’s rich natural resources.

The College Freedom Forum connects university students with world-renowned activists working to promote democracy and human rights in authoritarian regimes. During this event, students gain exposure to some of today’s most pressing human rights issues, resources to enhance their academic endeavors, and connections for professional growth.
