It is officially a crazy travel day with the girls! We are leaving our home away from home and heading back to Michigan, but the journey is full of surprises. From dressing in layers to handle the changing temperatures across the country to playing a high-stakes game of "Trailer Tetris" to fit all our gear, there is never a dull moment when traveling with three Siberian Huskies. Memphis, Kira, and Eleanor have their own suitcases (yes, two of them!), and they are definitely feeling the exhaustion of being up before the sun.
As we made our way through Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Ohio, we ran into everything from beautiful sunsets and historic train tunnels to sudden snowstorms and high winds. We even passed a house that had a major gas explosion—it’s been an eventful ride to say the least! Along the way, we found some incredible snacks, spotted some linemen heading north to help with the power outages, and finally made it to our hotel in Brighton, Michigan.
Safety is always our top priority, and today was a huge reminder of why we always do a "floor check" when we enter a hotel room. We found something very dangerous near the bed that could have been a disaster for the dogs. Watch as we settle in for the night, try some "Cinnaholic" treats, and get ready for the final leg of our journey home to see if our power is finally back on!
HIGHLIGHTS FROM OUR DAY
☀️ Starting the morning super early to drop Dan at the airport.
🧳 Playing a serious game of luggage Tetris to fit everything in the trailer.
🐿️ Memphis and the girls spotting a squirrel nest right outside the door.
🌉 Driving over the Potomac River and seeing the old train tunnels.
❄️ Driving through a literal "isolated snowstorm" in the middle of a sunny day.
🥨 Discovering the best Horseradish Cheddar chips ever made.
⚠️ Finding a dangerous ibuprofen pill on the hotel floor (ALWAYS check your rooms!).
🫐 Memphis and Kira getting a special blueberry treat from Dad.
🌀 Trying "Cinnaholic" gourmet cinnamon rolls for the first time.
🏠 Getting the news that our power is finally back on at home!
We finally made it to Michigan and grabbed some "acquired" food for dinner! Can you guess what we had for dinner? Leave your best guess in the comments below!
