Hello From Hawaii | Living in Kakaako: Misconceptions and What Life is Really Like (as a local) @HelloFromHawaii | Uploaded July 2024 | Updated October 2024, 16 hours ago.
I moved to Kakaako several years ago and I wanted to talk about what it's really like to live here. There are a lot of misconceptions about the community and what life is like. Sure, there are luxury condos and a relatively transient population, but there are also a lot of hidden gems and history to Kakaako that often get overlooked. So I spoke with Representative Scott Saiki, who has represented Kakaako since 2013, about what life is like in Kakaako, some of the misconceptions and challenges to living in the area, and what he sees for the future of Kakaako. Mahalo to Representative Saiki for his time to talk story. Also a big thank you to his staff for helping me schedule and coordinate the filming of this video.
