People think of cigarettes as the currency of the prison market, and to some degree that was true when I started my term. Equally important is the ramen soup. Usually Maruchan Ramen, sometimes Top Ramen, but always ramen. The Ramen soup is the backbone of the prison economy, and I will talk about ramen soups primarily this evening.
